The little Dane mermaid (Denmark)

Dear Ladies, (& Gentlemen)

Disclaimer;

I'm not here to try and sell my country, to the highest bid - as being the best place in the World. However, I had to react - when I read on this forum about 3 months ago that the Danes was seen as an barbaric, animal cruel, and to say the very least not a well behavioured culture. I understand that propoganda is everywhere, but would like to ask such to be kept aside from this topic please. If you visited Denmark, know someone here, or did your own experience - I would love to hear your addition to this thread. However, should the same people that trashed an relevant thread 3 months still be here (which I'm not even doubting) - I beg you, don't trash this one to. Okay, so with the burb gone...

Legally;
Also I understand 100% why the aforementioned thread was closed from further comments. Don't consider myself like a sensitive man, but some propoganda pictures that people posted made me sick to my stomach to. In case the Danes are still welcome here, I approach the bench so that these horribal pictures does not have the chance to portray the bigger picture of my beatiful country - as this a forum to bring people together not to create distance and resentment. Let's keep the propoganda out for a minute, be civilized, and show respect towards one another.

Humor; (Which may come in handy on a site like this)
The Danes feel a very strong connection with our former country-men to the North, here in Sccandinavia(Norway & Sweden mostly). But we will never admit so in public! 😉 In Denmark, it's like; I wouldn't tease you, if I don't like you. It's very important to pack one bag of self-ironi when you visit here. The Danes like to laugh, not of you - but with you! I guess some cultures will at a first glance find it cruel, but I've learned personally many people learning it to find it very liberating. Though the Danes look very boring and busy, underneath there really is (believe me) a warm humor.
It's not because of the climate, that society interested people voted the Danes to be the happiest people in the World.

Society & Social manners;
In an sort of ironic way, the Danes - from the small Kingdom of Denmark has a big proudness of their culture. With more or less sense of justice, depending on how far back in history we look. The Danes invented a concept, as we explain as "Hygge" - in direct translation it's coziness, happy, fun, comforable socializing all together. And really non of them in the same time. It's a special way of being alone, or together with others - I'm not sure anyone can even explain this. It's a phenomenon, of which you're not in doubt when experiencing. It might be easier for those who have experienced to explain than for me. Like I started stating - I'm only a Dane. 😉 But I'd like to hear feedback, really on my whole threat.

"Janteloven";
This was sort of a communism code-of-law regarding how to interact socially, which date back many years ago in Denmark culture, and former generations. When I say communism, I think; "We should all be equal", like the opposite of Liberalism, where I think; "Each take care of the one you love the most". As such, the Jantelov defines - that no one is allowed to be different, or have any special talent. "You're just like the rest of us", which gives a certain amount of jealousy and sort of "shoot you Down, cause no one can fly". This code-of-law still exists within the older generations, trying to keep the new generations in proper order. You'll probarly experience both "perspectives on life", should you decide to resident in Denmark. I'm not personally saying what is better, but don't say I didn't warn you! 😉

To break it Down;

Now, I'm curious hearing what people experienced. Nomatter if you visited Denmark, or you met Danes visiting your respective countries. I think this should be a room for debating, not for hatred - so I'm asking people to keep the tone respectable. All this above is just my experiences, and the impressions from both foreign friends - as well as previous foreign East European girlfriend.
