Where to visit in Ukraine?

I hope to visit Ukraine soon but I'm wondering which city would be best for a first time visitor?

I was originally thinking Kiev or Odessa but now I'm wondering about Lviv.  I'd like to see "touristy" things and I like exploring historic sights. I've been doing my research but there is so much in Ukraine that I'd like to do/see!  I'll probably only be able to stay for a week.  Of course I'll be at a major disadvantage since I don't know Russian or Ukrainian.

Meeting a contact here before my trip isn't going so well so I'm planning on exploring alone.    But that's ok, I love adventures!

So any help/advice on deciding where to go for my first trip would be appreciated!

Thank you Tatiana!  I will fund the trip myself. I have some vacation time from my work and I would like to visit Russia or Ukraine. I think Ukraine will be easier because I just need my passport and not a visa.

I would love to meet you or your daughter and help with her English but I don't want to make you or her uncomfortable. I will only be able to visit for 5 to 7 days.  I would like to visit the tourist attractions, meet some locals,  and try to experience as much of Ukraine as I can!

Can you write the last part of your message again? The translator does not make any sense.

Thank you again, Tatiana!

To begin, select the Lviv. Strolling through the city center I see a lot of happy campers photographed at every turn.
British edition for tourists The Rough Guide published rating of the ten cities of the world, which is recommended to visit in 2014. Fifth place went to Ukrainian Lviv . Compilers list noted the beauty of the city with its " East-West fusion of styles of architecture ." And also recalled that in the Carpathian Mountains , near Lviv , going to develop winter tourism, and that the Lions claim to host the Winter Olympics in 2022 . " Our advice - go there quickly , otherwise then have to stand in long queues at the ski lift " - advises edition .

Thank you for your post, Ulyana! Lviv sounds very nice and I have been reading a lot about the city and the sights.

I wish I had enough time to explore ALL of Ukraine because it looks like such a beautiful country filled with great people. I hope this trip will be the first of many.
