Rob, no war! It's OK. Thanks for participating in the discussion. I'd like to touch the topic of Poles, Ukrainians and the UK. I think the following example is worth reading.
A friend of mine has been living in England for about 2 years. She met her future husband on the dating site. She's got a small but (as it turned out) a big problem now. Well, you know all houses have taps for cold and hot water. But in Ukraine and other countries, and Poland, as well, the two taps are joined (it is called 'a faucet' or 'basin mixer'). In British houses the taps are separate faucets and not joined into a mixer. It's very inconvenient but very economical. When she asked her husband to replace the faucets into a mixer, he said: 'No, It's a tradition. All houses here are equiped with such system.' She asked again and again but all in vain. He can't understand that it isn't a tradition or custom, it's a trifle thing that spoils her life. This problem became an obsession for her. At last he said:'I can buy you a single ticket to Ukraine' (and he was serious). Taps nearly caused a divorce!!! The daughter of my friend is married to a Polish guy. They have been living in the UK for 10 years. Last year they bought a house in the suburbs of London. The first thing that the Pole did - he replaced all taps into mixers. He did it not only because the Ukrainians and Poles have much in common but because a Pole always tries to do his best to please his pani.

`
A stupid story? What do you think of it?

Hi well yes i know your water mixing taps we also have these in England too,Dont forget i have been to your country once and will return with luck in Feb,Well you hit two things first your friend came to England and go married then left her English man,She is lucky she can stay the English government are trying to stop women coming here and doing this(usually called a meal ticket)and are looking in to ways to send them home,And that is why visas to England are getting harder to get,It also is going to make it much harder to bring my wife here when i find her,What i wrote is very true and many English think our doors should be closed as our taxes go up all the time,Soon i think there will be a rebellion,I see by what you write you like poles,Take care and have a great Christmas,Rob

Hi Robert...One sentence of yours made me think for a moment:"She is lucky she can stay..." I am living in Switzerland. Even the Germans strive to come here to work and live. Euro crisis, rising taxes etc. Russia (also Ukraine) are emerging countries. China even more. You are young enough to see the possible decline of the west. I mean, the British Empire is already dead for many decades now. My point? Not all ladies here are looking for escape, mainly they want a real partner. And less and less of them are interested into living in a suburb of Paris or in a down-turned industrial city in England.

Witaj Andrzej!

Hi Rob I know how english people get cross with poles but who do dirty job in factories? I know lots of polish hard working people, who work more than 40hours/week, my polish girlfriend worked in fish factory cleaning and she had English lady who worked with her... and guess who did clean all shits? I don't like the fact that polish are unhappy living in England because they know they are not welcomed but they have to work.
(By the way I used date a lovely Cornish man) please not be offended by my post...just saying...

Hi Andrzej! I've met a couple of Polish men on this site. Both charming, showered me with compliments. One promised to meet in St.Pete, cancelled twice, apologized profusely. Both of them lived abroad, Norway, USA. Both disappeared without trace  ). I have no regrets, but now I don't really trust Polish guys. Ironically, I'm half Polish myself  ).
