Dear Tatyana, thank you for your sincere words and for sharing. Encouraging thoughts for anyone looking for love because it reduces what might be an artificial boundary.
Some of us (men) do not seek diligently for a mate and try to pick her out of the crowds of wonderful ladies here. Looking for a soul mate is not like trying to pick out a new puppy. For me, making friends with someone is important and then hope perhaps she will see something she really likes in me and want to be closer. Her age is not critically important. Even if I notice a girl is much younger, I still take the time to read her profile and admire who she is, even if it she seems far away in years. Sometimes I smile to myself and go on. Sometimes I make a note to come back and visit again after giving it some thought.
Yes, of course age is relative, but a gentleman must use some discretion and decorum and be sensitive to her desires, unless he sees a unique opportunity for them both. Should not be a selfish decision for him. When looking for a mate, men should not simply look to fulfill their own wants; they should be compassionate about her needs and honestly ask himself would he be capable of providing her a joyful and fulfilled life. For some of us, the joy in the relationship is not what we get out of it, but what good things can we pour into her life to bring her fulfillment and happiness. Making her happy is what brings us happiness.
Sometimes I see a woman with whom I have many things in common, but realize she is looking for someone much younger. Some girls have a preference for men only 4 or 5 years older. I typically respect that but secretly wonder if she will ever find exactly what she wishes for. A good man should be tender and sensitive about a girl's feelings before he even discovers who she is. Learning to care about her before even finding out who she is a good way to start a relationship. With the right attitude, you are correct, age can become a minor obstacle.
