Nadya, I do not think men in the US look for women on dating sites based on age. They look for a woman who is stunningly beautiful, a shapely figure, intelligent, has a big bank account and no opinions! Does not matter if she is younger, however, as Tim said, if the man contacts a girl more than 10 years younger here in the US, usually he has a mountain to climb. As reality begins to set in on the guy who wants everything, the age thing begins to come into proper perspective. You know, it's not just the guys who are searching....the girls are looking, too...
All men first look at the girl's pictures. For ALL men, that is the first attraction. After the pictures, I read the profiles (sometimes many times) and especially her answers to the site questions. Always nice to know how she thinks (I never bother with the psychological battery- that just confuses things). For what it is worth, sometimes the girl is too attractive. Sexy skirts, seductive poses and deep cleavage get attention, but probably not long-term. What matters to most men, me included; is she genuine or superficial?
Where age seems to come into play is what Tim said about Slavic women; Russian and Ukrainian girls seem less concerned about age differences than here in the US. This permits the man to search within a larger dating pool. More chance of finding a (younger) attractive girl; but still, the emphasis is usually on who she is inside. Actually, I have seen many 55-60 year old women here on the site who are stunningly beautiful. Superficial men look only for what they can see; all that glitters is not gold. We all get older; good idea for men to remember that. Best to chose someone who remains beautiful and lovely on the inside, long after the temporary excitement of youth fades. Inner beauty is permanent.
One more thought. What you said about heavy women here in the US is somewhat accurate. Slavic and European woman take much better care of themselves (their bodies and their looks) than their American counterparts. They dress well and take pride in their appearance. American women, who are overweight, are heavy for two reasons; food and inactivity!
American feminism makes dating sites here different. Have never met a Slavic girl here in the US who was as lax in their appearance as American women. Men like to be with someone they can be proud of. Feminists here find it easier to say they are "not getting dressed up for some man" (including her husband). If they choose to get dressed up, it is only for themselves. Slavic women have no problem saying things like, I want to look good for my husband or, I want to support my husband or, I want to do have a neat and tidy house for my husband...little things like that go a long way in making a man fall in love. Slavic girls have an advantage over American women, in that many American men are tired of the social games here in the US; after their experiences here, girls from your countries are very refreshing.
Again, it is not age men are looking for, but for women in your countries age is not so much of factor, which has some benefits for both the man and woman. If the circumstances are right, there are no "age gaps".
I lived outside of Philly for many years, near Valley Forge National Park. You should find Philadelphia a little nicer city than NYC, depending on your tastes. I would suggest visiting Longwood Gardens; even in winter, it is a fabulous place. In downtown Philadelphia, is the Reading Terminal Market and a department store with the world's largest pipe organ; it is played every day. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is quite famous. I hope you will enjoy your time here; good luck.
