Well now, that explains why I was confused! You have been responding to something we had discussed privately that you did not like. Helga, the forum is probably not the appropriate place to air your displeasure at my “politics”. No one will understand what you are talking about. My forum posts here are not any continuation of one of our individual discussions.

Privately, I pointed out where you are in error, but nothing posted here was related to that conversation. My comments to you were more about intellectual honesty than politics. Out of respect for our managers, I try to avoid open political discussions; regardless, world events directly affect us and relationships. Sometimes avoiding the political world is difficult; however, promoting personal politics is not my goal. I try to use commonly-accepted wisdom, logic and philosophy in order to substantiate truth. And yes, quite often my truth is well-established.

You seem to be a little hostile, looking for things that do not exist to criticize and rebut them. You are critical of almost everything I have posted, including repeated jabs at a pretty nice book you have never seen and do not even know the title. You mock my “absolute truth” without my stating what I believe it is. My dear, I am not the one who is angry.

I am sorry you are upset; but I am not. People criticize my country every day and I just roll my eyes; why don’t you do the same? Not fair to others to vent personal resentment here. None of my forum posts are related to any private discussion we have had, even if you do not think so. I still have email and you are welcome to take issue with me any time you wish and I will always treat you with respect. Maybe we need to talk about that resentment, too.

Just a word regarding US customs; “Merry Christmas” is a commonly-accepted holiday greeting, regardless of belief because Christmas here is also a secular holiday. “Merry Christmas” is an expression of goodwill, just as “Grüss Gott” means “Good day” in Bavaria. My non-believing friends commonly use this and never think about it. I did not recall you being offended last year when I wished you a Merry Christmas and there are far more important things to become offended about. Please do not feel a need to post another rebuttal; no one is attacking you.
