You put a very interesting question. Why are men from Western Europe "looking at the East" - for women? Let me do some remarks. First of all, likely nobody has got exact informations about the number of men, searching for Russian women. Relatively, it might be a small number, compared with the whole lot of all searching men.
Another aspect is the following: what I see is, that a certain amount of (German) men -especially those who are between 40 and 60 years old- are looking for much younger women. Eastern and Asian women might have some reasons to accept up to 10,15 or even 20 years elder men.
At the same time, German women do not absolutely prefer men with higher age as themselves.
If you see it critically, there are probably a lot of (German) men who want women, which, they suppose, do accept a more submissive (traditional) role in a relationship. May be, these men are not conscious about this. There are also simple and silly men, who prefer "fresh meat" of Asia.
