Irina ,

It may also be that he is not familiar with the customs and traditions in your country. And your vieuw on life.

I have already said it a couple of times - different cultures ,different ideas.
In such situations it's very easy , to mis-interpreted and then the next argument is started.

This may also be a reason to break up the relation.

Western men may think that it's just a matter of finding a Slavic woman , and all will be fine !

That would be their first and maybe biggest mistake. When you want to do something right , you should invest time and energy into it.

Western male would do this for their job , sport , or whatever thing they want to accomplish. But when it comes to finding a partner/wife from another culture , they skip this......

Maybe it's the ease and all around availability of communication these days.

Building a relation in the "good old days" would involve much more effort and work , because you really had to work for it.
Writing and waiting for letters.

Making pictures which would be ready after a couple of days.Or sending telegrams or telexes - if you needed a speedy delivery.

For days you would be in anxious waiting for a response from him/her!

And making a Phone call , oh forget it , because you wouldn't the parents to know.Unless you had a sister who could make the Phone call for you ......

Ooohhh these good old days .... they surely had their moments of melancholy and romantic.

But these times have passed and it's the era for a new reality!
How to cope with it is another challenge .....

Eric
