I would say that, speaking generally, you are correct. There seem to be few gentlemen left in the USA but mostly from the younger generations, in my opinion.

Feminism is not the only factor but it's a large part of it. Most women (again, of the younger age) do not expect men to open doors, carry their bags, help with a chair, pay for dinner, etc. That type of behavior is considered "old fashioned". Some women here actually become offended if a man tries to do these type of things. They want to be "equals" and not depend on a man for anything. It's the same reason that so many American women are focused on building their career first and then maybe creating a family later. Not all American women are like that of course; there are still many that are feminine and family oriented but they are or are becoming the minority.

Now, I'm not blaming the women of my country for the less than gentleman like behavior of the American man or men you have known. Please let me apologize in their place. Some men, myself included, are often just dense or hopelessly clueless.

I just wanted to give some perspective on our culture, for better or worse.
