I completely agree but you never know until actually meeting and spending time with each other.

I just read a story on another forum, that is similar to this, about an American man that went to visit a Russian woman he had been communicating with for 7 months. That's a long time to just write letters and talk on Skype! Their meeting was wonderful though and they became engaged on the first trip.

Taking the time to get to know one woman and then visiting her would be the way I personally would go about my search (and have been) but I understand the reasoning behind those that write and visit many. I was simply trying to explain that mentality the way I see it but, of course, everyone's reasoning is different.
