Things may be counter intuitives. That is societies where women are explicitely and formally confined have to protect their women and provide them with "things" societies where women are more free and in competition with men are expected to help herself without any social organisation to protect or feed them . We are just reluctant to the difference and see the negative exceptionnal and spectacular exception confirming our already biases and world view.
