As the topic is dead, I 'll try to revive it. I think that to "understand" the "other" world, one have to consider it, naively and at first, as the same world. Otherwise mind biases always plays. One of them, which seems be to the source of this lady post, at first look legitimate question, is that "women" may have an unknown , different ( supposed lower ) status in Egyptia. May be. Or not. But for sure pre supposed and biaised clichés are of no help. Personnaly i'm seeing the women status in Germany in general a lot lower than in my region ( not to say the status in other deep France ) and i'm seeing the East one as crazy lower than in Germany or Mediterranzan countries , for instance this one, where women may be confined to a specific gendered tradionnal role but are fully and plenty socially protected.
