It is really very simple.
There is a LOT more house keeping, interior design, sewing kits , house anything shops and traditionally women oriented goods in an average German city than in an 8 millions people bigger city like Paris. Traditional bias is now structuraly represented in the average German city by its economical and social public network to fullfill the need of a home orienter women post traditional society whereas it is far less obvious in the Paris region, excepting the fact that everywhere in the world Fashion is a women market and the first labor market reachable by women in the world is still the retail shop one ( with also the public core service ). So looking the center of a average German city we may conclude that we are still in the "third" world, if you like provocative perspective and cliches.
