I want to clarify things that seems to get lost in auto translation.
The topic is marriage in Europe, the young woman asked about Denmark as a country and culture, the male population in particular. First came the fairytale about how great we are, and then came undocumented internet statistics and the things that started me on this argument – bias and prejudice against us as a country for 2 things: whale killing and the giraffe Marius. First things first so let us start with whales.

Pilot whales, not dolphins are killed on Faroe Isles, Faroe Isles have autonomy rule over domestic issues and that means: they decide. Now we can argue long and hard about tradition, legality and the fact that their children participate and so on – but that is how THEY have chosen to go about it. My personal views goes against this custom and were it put to a vote in Denmark – it would be abolished, but we cannot vote on something that is not ours to vote about.
Now one of you mention Asia as a beacon of light compared to Europe – all I can say dear is: Japan and their approx. 900 killed whales annually for “research” read “sushi”
Now Marius is a different matter…. Marius had his genome against him; his genome was so common that none of the approved Zoo has wanted him. Copenhagen zoo had signed a declaration saying that they would not let animals in captivity be older than 1½ years, if they could not breed on them.
Marius fell into that category, he was up to his demise already getting beatings from his father, since a pack can have only 1 male – Copenhagen zoo didn’t have funding to release him into the wild (where he most likely would have been eaten by lions). So instead, they killed him with a bolt gun in public and fed him to lions in zoo. What / if / might /possible does not really matter – now. Do I think children should see this – yes. I think children do not suffer from learning that animals die and we kill some of them, do I think lion weekend on animal planet would have achieved same result – not entirely, because it is still TV. Do I feel pity for Marius? Yes. Do I think it raised people awareness about animals? Yes.
I then foolishly drew the analogy – that if they felt it in their right to call us whale killers etc. that we in the spirit of analogy could call them dog killers – this of course made one of you jump the gun.
She stated that this was due to rabies and public safety – but you are really missing the point –you used the term whale killers on all of us, surely why would you be offended over being called dog killer? Yet you immediately made derogatory references to my dating profile? As it had bearing on this conversation – right… really genius and mature.
Now we can go on and on debating this, but I am sorry – if I wanted to discuss the demise of Marius or the fact that Faroes kill whales – I would properly be discussing it on an environmental forum –not a dating forum.
To the initial author of this text, I hope our one on one conversations helped you understand us, our laws and immigration rules etc. and the links I provided you will come in handy.
On an ending note I’d like to add that I believe in every animal should have the best possible existence –we can give them - that goes for both wild and domestic.
but what i see in here is amorale -poor whales - not so poor gay people and peninsula...
