Hermann, vaccine side-effects are indeed tracked, but the data collection on it isn't perfect since there is no communication mechanism after the vaccine is administered unless the individual contacts their healthcare system. For example, I felt exhausted and sore the next day, but didn't tell anyone since I wasn't going to die. Most of my friends and family felt the same, but none of us reported the one-day reaction, either. Our statistics count shows that 0.022% of doses had an "adverse event" (which is sort of mild reaction like I had) and 0.008% had a "serious adverse event" (which I would assume requires hospitalization), for a total of approximately 0.029%. There is an excellent dashboard on vaccine reaction effects, occurrence counts and rates on the Canadian government website which can be configured based on the vaccine given: https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccine-safety/

There are currently 191 reports of death following vaccination in Canada, but not all of those deaths were necessarily caused by the vaccine (the data notes themselves say 74 are "unlikely to be related", and most either lack information or are still being investigated. This is among 54 million doses given. We have almost 28,000 COVID-related deaths, and the vaccine has likely saved a few thousand more already, looking at the rate with which unvaccinated people are dying compared to vaccinated people. Even if 191 deaths due to the vaccine was realistic, it's probably saving 100 times that number.

The rates of blood clots and other serious reactions are lower in the COVID vaccine than in birth control, for example, so I don't understand why people are making the numbers seem like they are not worth the risk. I'll trade a single day of being sick and knowing I'm going to be okay, compared to not knowing whether I'll die or be brutally sick for weeks with virus effects. This is not a normal flu - the virus has a 1%+ kill rate, which gets far worse as you age. If you're in your 60s and think hot tea and vitamins will save you once you've contracted the virus, you're in serious danger, and quite frankly I don't feel pity for these people anymore. The province next to me, which has hundreds of thousands of anti-vaccine citizens and politicians, is now beginning to triage patients. This means that if you are in your 70s and require hospitalization due to the virus in that province, you're probably going to die. They brought this issue on themselves by ignoring the risks and thinking they didn't need to make any preparations. There is no value in having your immune system "totally prepared" by not using a vaccine when the risks are far greater. In the 1960s, people used this same argument with Polio, saying that their immune systems will save them, and they didn't need a vaccine. Well, thousands of people lots the use of their bodies (and their lives), until the vaccine was given often enough that the virus was eradicated.
