Anastasiya, you're not offending me. You're right, I agree. Canada has one of the strictest visa regimes in the world, and I can absolutely understand why it dissuades people from talking to us. It doesn't help that we are far away and our air travel is very expensive. The chances are practically null of a woman coming to Canada for a couple's first date, I've always had to fly to Europe (not that I think a woman should travel to a man first). A visitor visa may be possible if you can show sufficient interaction between the couple before, and convince the immigration officer that she will return after. Permanent resident visas can take a year or more once the couple is married, too. Previous marriages and the custody of children can add months to the process, even if everything is settled. This is just the system we worked within. It moves slow and there are a lot of steps, because the officers are absolutely professional and take the law very seriously.
