I am American and my wife was from Russia. She could not adapt to here. The stores are too big, there is so much in them. I worked and she stayed home. After supper, she spent the rest of the evening in her daughter's (then 10) play in Russian. She did not want to learn English, or make American friends. She did find some other Russia wives and attached to them like a magnet. I liked them, but was not allowed to talk with them. They all seemed well adjusted. After 7 years of basically living alone, I permanently broke my back on the ice. My ex immediately divorced me. We have a daughter (now 10) who I barely see. She still has not adjusted, and talks about how good Russia is. If not for our daughter, she would move back.
In America, we all came from somewhere else, at some time. I thought it would be an adventure, learning from each other. I am more isolated than at any time in my life. I still do not know why. I do not drink, smoke or use drugs. Is it one of the countries, their cultures ... ?
