Yes, I can also say that statistic given above is true. But unfortunately it concerns far from only situation in Russia, although in Russia, of course, it is especially terrible. Even domestic violence law is absent in Russia. Actually so called civilized countries have the same problems but simply some disguised by relatively progressive laws (such laws, of course, are good but it is impossible to change people’s minds only with the help of laws because gender stereotypes are fixed hard on the level of archetypes, first of all by religious dogmas). For example, even in USA where the system of fighting with domestic violence is developed rather well, about 2,000 women die from this violence every year. In Russia this characteristic is 6-7 times more.
Even in western countries equality of women’s and men’s rights is only the myth that is very convenient for most of men because justifies further using of women’s resource. Not many men are ready to admit that inequality still exists in very harsh forms and to contribute to improving the situation, at least on the level of own family.

Everywhere (both in some ugly modern art and in biblical plots) a woman is an object whereas a man is, of course, a subject. The definition _dehumanization_ is the most appropriate here in my opinion. Such things as domestic violence etc. are simply consequences of a huge centuries-old mind distortion. Maybe it is time to change something at last?
