No answer to a letter

Hello girls, a question if I may?
I will preface by saying that I am confident enough in myself that I do not base my self-esteem on what others think of me or how they respond. I like who I am, despite the flaws we each have. But I am curious: I have written girls and had great conversations and hope to get to know some better. But I also have had some simply not respond in any way. I can understand if the age is not in the desired range, or some other quality is not interesting to them. But for girls where the compatibility seems to exist and not receive anything just seems odd. Knowing what I do of Russian women and the culture, I just am surprised by this and more curious than anything. The other phenomena I have witnessed in the past was to be having a conversation that seems to be well, perhaps over days or weeks and then it just stops. No answer to a letter and see she has been on several times since.
