A cultural opposite?

I am curious about people's opinions regarding a subject that came up recently. I was told about a Russian saying regarding the rekindling of a relationship as something to the effect of,"It is difficult to go back into the same waters." But you can contrast that with the American idiom, "If you fall off the horse, you have to get back in the saddle again."
