Las Vegas

Many people think of Las Vegas and the images of the movies comes to mind: flashing lights, casinos, showgirls, etc. People think we all live in the hotels and gamble every day. But Las Vegas is a nice southwestern US city. The valley has much to offer, especially Henderson, which is the southestern part of the Las Vegas metro valley.

We have Lake Mead and Lake Las Vegas for boating and water sports, Mount Charleston for hiking, camping and skiing. There is wonderful shopping and restaurants here. Nevada topography is very different from many parts of the world. Great sites abound, such as the Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon and more. It is a short drive to the west rim of the Grand Canyon and and even shorter driver to take a helicopter ride over it. Southern Utah has Mt. Zion and a wonderful ski resort.

Henderson has palm trees and parks and of course we have lots of sunshine. Not unusual to wear shorts in March and also in December. And while Las Vegas can be considered a dangerous city, Henderson was ranked as the second safest city in the US recently. And of course, we have the shows, the casinos, the events that everyone expects. I once heard it said that Las Vegas could be seen completely in a few days and little reason to return after the first trip. I have been here for 8 years now and have yet to see everything!
