Are Nerds and Geeks unpopular in Russian culture?

Russian culture is famous for its writers, artists and intellectuals. My impression as a foreigner is that the average education of Russian people is very high.

However, I am one specific kind of writer/artist: in the western world, people like me are called "geeks".

A geek is someone who is intellectual about specific, pop-culture things. Geeks love games, comic-books, science fiction, fantasy, animated series, science. We are the guys who discuss the intricacies of plot of a TV series, or go to watch a Star Wars movie three times, or go to conventions wearing costumes of their heroes (I don't do that, but my phone shell and keyring and wallet have images of Captain America, and my house if full of toys and collectibles.

If you watch an episode of the Big Bang Theory TV series you know what I am talking about.

Is someone like this ridiculed or unpopular in Russian culture? I know gamers exist, as I have some customers in Russia. I just wonder if this part of me is making me lose points with the ladies (it's not something that I am going to change).
