Russians in Mauritius

I have been living in Mauritius for job purpose for some time. I am surprised to see that local Mauritians have very high proportion of having Russian wives. However, when I try to read about it online, I cannot find any explanation. Can any Russian explain me how come so many Russians are married to Mauritians. By the way, Mauritian is just one country from many countries I have lived so far. I have never seen this trend in other countries I have lived in. Some thing is there which is not reported in media or articles. Or may be I am searching in English, while Mauritians use French for communications.
