Hey Scott, the age factor will possibly mean that they will look seriously at the relationship, but they do anyway on a K1. If everything is in place, you've met at least once in her country and have evidence of a relationship, it should not be a problem. Just takes time. As for getting married in Ukraine, you do not need to be a resident. I married a girl from Minsk in her city (divorced now though) and rather normal process. Just be prepared to spend a little more being a foreigner. Some people recommend lawyers, but I have found them to wholly unnecessary. Did a k-1 visa application as well, although we decided not to follow through on it unfortunately. Just follow the instructions and no problems. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Здравствуйте Стивен!Я бы хотела задать Вам вопрос,поскольку Вы американец и поможете мне разобраться в моей ситуации.Я познакомилась с американцем но не на этом сайте.Наша переписка завязалась стремительно и я была очень счастлива.Он хотел приехать еще в 2012 году летом,но поехал с друзьями на футбол,что то они там выпили и его задержала полиция.Он сказал,что ему запретили выезд за пределы Америки на 1 год.Потом он нашел адвоката и все разрешилось (по его словам).Он собирался приезжать зимой 2012 года перед Новым Годом.Я уже нашла гостиницу,как он опять написал,что серьезно заболел раком кожи.Я просила его не волноваться,что все зависит от стадии,но он сказал,что стадия плохая.Я расстроилась,мне не хотелось терять этого человека.Ему сделали операцию и он стал поправляться.Когда он окончательно выздоровел,мы договорились,что я приеду к нему в марте этого года.я уже взяла отпуск,он прислал приглашение,но снова проблема.Ему нужно было помочь своей кузине,она больна сахарным диабетом и он все деньги потратил на нее.Снова попросил меня перенести отпуск.я работаю водителем автобуса в Петербурге,и мне очень сложно переносить отпуск,потому что это не частная контора,а режимное государственное предприятие.Когда мне все же удалось перенести отпуск на август,он обрадовался и я спросила его о нашей следующей встрече,состоится ли она,или опять что то помешает.Я была 2 года без отпуска и мне хотелось просто уточнить.Один отпуск у меня совпал с экзаменами в университете,а потом я уволилась и ушла работать на туристический автобус.Потом я вернулась и потеряла свой законный отпуск.Вот мне и хотелось уточнить,а он обиделся на меня,решил что я отказываюсь,что у меня появился кто то другой,хотя это совсем не так.Мы общались с ним 1.5 года и я жила мечтою о встрече с ним и никаких мужчин к себе не подпускала.Все кончилось плохо,мы расстались так и не поняв друг друга.Он сказал,что мы все русские странные и что он будет искать себе американскую женщину.Я так и не поняла,что произошло.Как Вы думаете,он обманывал меня или такое может быть?Что Вы могли бы мне посоветовать? I am sorry to say, but from reading your story, I think he was just not serious. His stories sound very far-fetched. A man who wants a woman will run though a wall for her and try anything to be with her. Do not let it upset you and just keep looking for the real man. Unfortunately there are scammers and players on this site on both sides. I recently started to correspond with a girl on the site who eventually told me she was actually using her friend's profile. And another wrote to me and sent me pictures. Pretty girl. Because they were pictures of Lera Gromova, not her! My advice to you and everyone is take a risk, heartache just means that your heart works and do not give up hope.

We have a saying in the US: "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is not true." We also have a saying about excuses, but cannot repeat in mixed company.
Everyone! Do not settle for second best. The person who will complete you is out there. Do not give up and do not lose hope. Maybe you need to change your approach or your idea. Ask advice. Get help if you need it. It seems that people who are truly looking for love are very open to helping others do the same.

Natalya, this is the type of man who, as a child, told the teacher, the dog ate my homework, every week. If he thinks Russian women are weird and wants to go find an American woman, he has very serious mental concerns. Probably the type who would choose a hamburger over a lobster dinner. All the ladies here are much better than this.  )))

Doug, pitty that ladies are compared to the food and the american ones to the hamburgers particulary. I have always woundered why one should prefer people/women of the certain nationality, other than own, is not it a problem of the one? it is always much easier to find common language with the person of the same origin and culture, otherwise there are reasons to broaden the horizonts stronger than a taste of food...

Please, Katya. No comparision of woman to food; bad translation. Choice between hamburger and lobster is example of a poor decision. The person who chooses American girls over Russian girls, would make a similar poor decision with food...and not choose the lobster. I praised Russian women over what I know here in the US, and for good reason. I intended no insult, dear.

Hi, have you considered a CR 1 visa, marry in her country and the processin Is easier plus, she steps off the plane and a green card is hers, no long process, 4-6 max. I just inquired about this in Belarus....its the newest way to get your wishes done...marry her there. You will need apostile papers saying u r free to marry, divorce decree, all certified by a superior clerk court of the secretary of state where u live...email me...I studied many months on this. C U
