Experience with using Professional Translation
Hello everyone. About a month ago I posted seeking advice about using human translation rather than machine. I wanted to give my impression after trying it.
First, it dramatically helped us understand each other and have real conversations rather than just exchanging questionnaires. I experimented by running her letters written in Russian through the machine translators and comparing the results with the human translation. Sometimes the differences were dramatic in tone and meaning. Apparently Russian has multiple negative words or phrases that look very bad when translated individually but when combined by a human translator have a very different meaning. If you’re a native English speaker this is important to remember or you might feel your being attacked or that she is even angry when it’s not the case (if using machine translation only). We found that we really had a lot of things in common and will be meeting soon in Russia. This is great, but obviously there are downsides too. The biggest is cost. The least expensive service we found was .06 cents per word. This seems very reasonable at first. There’s a problem though that’s obvious now. The better you understand each other, the more you write! Hahaha. It opens the floodgates and letters of 1000 words quickly become common. So the costs add up quickly. The next thing is that it doesn’t solve all problems. Even with perfect translation, misunderstandings are still very possible because of real cultural differences. Simply understanding the words isn’t enough. We’ve both started lessons to learn each other’s language but it will be slow.
So, should you try it? Unfortunately there’s not a clear answer unless you are wealthy enough that cost doesn’t matter.
For me, I have no regrets, we are now friends and know we like each other. And we are still using the service. For us, it was worth the cost. I was lucky though, I found a real connection the first time. You can easily do this many times before you find someone who seems compatible enough that you want to meet. Good luck to everyone.

Recommended Translation Services
Hello, does anyone have a translation service they can recommend? Looking for translation of emails by a human, not machine translation. We have been using the website translation as well as other online services and are still having much confusion and misunderstandings. It’s very frustrating. Also, what is a fair price to expect for such service? Languages to be translated are Russian and English. Thanks for any suggestions.

Сейчас очень много способов изучения различных иностранных языков. У каждого свои способности и методы изучения. Я часто слышу о том ,что НИКОГДа я не выучу язык до уровня носителя. Стало интересно , кто-то выучил язык до уровня Нурии ? )))

you'll see when i browse profiles of girls on the websites you have different levels weak good very good and fluent but what is good for a russian/ukrainian/belaruss speaker, i don't consider myself as fluent,but i read it very well,i'am not perfect at writing,and haven't speak since a long time ,in fact i used more english than french, i watch 99% of movies and tv shows in english with french subs,it's look like the translators don't understand the shorcuts,maybe is the same for people i don't know, i participate to a multicutural forum and its look like english is mastered,by all the westener europeans,and what about french in these countries is it mastered or not,it's looks like women are better than men,for myself even i have a school base i've learn english by myself and i'am much better now than in my early years and because i use the anglophone web at 80/90 % for sure this world dominance of english don't please to everybody but is better than nothing, but i have read than in a bicultural couple using english for example is tiring especially for eastern women,and can lead to break-up in some few cases,but i'am a very didactic guy for some few things and writen is one of them.

Я учила английский сама, по приложению метод Тичера... Занималась сама, каждый день, минут по 40... Через полгода у меня уже был приличный бытовой английский и по скайпу вполне могла болтать на простые темы ( погода,настроение, чем занимаюсь и тд)... В этом приложении изучение языка с алфавита, обьяснение очень доступное, с озвучиванием, там вы будете учиться читать, писать, правильно строить предложения, говорить... Сначала я занималась там по бесплатным урокам, 20 мин в день... Но там часто акции и скидки и я в итоге купила себе 4 курса языка... На 4 курса у меня ушло два года... Но через два года я себя очень уверенно чувствую и в переписке и в общении... Очень рекомендую.

В начале октября мы наконец-то поженились в Германии.
К слову сказать, вообще не возникло проблем с доками или со сроками. Сейчас с дочкой ждем нац.визы.
